Knee hurts. Only did 33 miles, but found my first campsite that had availability. Note to self: don’t start these kinds of things on Spring Break week.
To be perfectly honest, this is nothing like what I expected it to be. It’s sort of lonely doing nothing but biking all day. I’ve only had a few real conversations since leaving Boca Raton three days ago, but they were nourishing enough to keep me going till the next one.
I fought a strong wind all day that kept blowing in first from the north, then from the east off the water. It’s funny how you don’t really think of wind as something to be wary of, but after almost being blown into traffic, one learns quickly to respect another aspect of Mother Nature.
So here I am, in a state park off this beautiful inlet with my camp right on the water, and I must say that although I’m disappointed in the mileage today, I’m not dissatisfied in the slightest with where I ended up. It couldn’t be more beautiful reading under this tree.
Have a wonderful evening.
EDIT: Police cars and medical helicopters are landing at campsite. Looks like someone may be hurt. Not sure what’s happened.
